Job Description

About the Role

We are currently seeking a reliable and motivated Canteen Assistant to join our team on a Casual or Part Time basis. The location is flexible across our sites that we provide services to. This role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of the canteen by assisting with food preparation, customer service and maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness. The position involves working closely with the Canteen Manager, supporting volunteers, and ensuring a safe, welcoming and well-organised canteen environment for the school community.
 

In this role, you will:
•    Support the Canteen Manager with daily operations, including rostering, record keeping and stock control.
•    Operate the canteen in the Canteen Manager’s absence when required.
•    Assist with food preparation and service, maintaining high standards of hygiene, food safety and customer service.
•    Handle over-the-counter sales and assist with daily takings.
•    Receive, check and store deliveries, ensuring correct stock rotation and minimal waste.
•    Maintain a clean, safe and secure canteen environment in line with WHS and food safety standards.
•    Assist with training new staff and volunteers and uphold all canteen policies and procedures.
•    Foster a respectful, inclusive and child-safe workplace in line with organisational policies.


To be successful for this role, you must possess the following:

•    A commitment to food safety and WHS standards.
•    Strong communication and teamwork skills, driven to learn and grow.
•    Attention to detail for accurate and timely documentation.
•    A professional approach to boundaries, privacy, and confidentiality.
•    A current driver’s license and access to a vehicle comprehensively insured vehicle.
